Roles


 

It is important to restrict the type of asset operations that are allowed to asset users to ensure secured asset management. SapphireIMS is shipped with a set of default roles as explained below.

Default Asset Roles shipped with SapphireIMS

Asset Admin - The person who has the privilege to add/delete/view/modify the assets and their properties.

Asset Operator - The person who has the privilege to only view/modify the assets and their properties.

Asset User - The person who has the privilege to only view the assets and their properties.

 

Note: By default, these roles have access to all the assets unless explicitly specified as explained below.

In addition, you can add new asset roles as explained below.

Inherit From

New role can inherit properties from the following built in  ‘Asset Roles’.

  • Asset User: View Only Privilege

  • Asset Admin: Add/Delete/View/Modify

  • Asset Operator: View/Modify

Access Privilege

Select the privilege to perform the following operations - 'Add', 'Edit','Status Edit' or 'Delete' for the role.

Asset Import

Select this field if the role is allowed to perform asset import operations using Excel. This enables the asset import icon in the asset listing screen for this role.

Purge Record Access

Allows or prevents the role from deleting existing CMDB assets while importing assets using Excel

CI Type

Select all the configuration items to which access has to be provided for this role

Project

Select the Projects for which the access to assets has to be provided for this role. Refer to the topic Settings->Asset and Inventory Management->Assets->Miscellaneous Configurations for adding new projects.

Location

Select the Locations for which the access to assets has to be provided for this role. If 'Consider User's Location' is selected, then access will be restricted to the assets belonging to the same Location as the User. Refer to the topic Settings->User Management->Locations and Departments for creating Locations and Departments.

Department

Select the Departments for which the access to assets has to be provided for this role. If 'Consider User's Department' is selected, then access will be restricted to the assets belonging to the same Department as the User.  Refer to the topic Settings->User Management->Locations and Departments for creating Locations and Departments.

 

Note.gifNote that when a new module is added, the User, Operator and Admin roles are automatically created for that module by prefixing the module name to these roles.
