Agent Tasks

SapphireIMS agent is designed to address different task operations like USB end point protection, registering DLL's to get data etc.

The following task explains the application of USB end point protection in SapphireIMS.

Configure Agent Profile

Before you configure an agent task, you need to create an agent profile first using 'Profile Manager'

1. Click the 'Settings' tab. In the 'Software Management' section, click 'Profile Manager'

5. Select the criteria for the agent profile. In the example shown above, 'Individual IP' is selected as the criteria.

Note: You can select agent as well as agent less nodes for the 'Extend Agent Profile'.

USB White Listing through Agent Tasks

1. Click the 'Settings' tab, from 'IT Automation' section, click 'Client Task Agent'. Click 'ADD'

1	Task Name	Enter the name of the agent task
2	Task Type	In the 'Task Type' drop down, select USB Whitelisting. Note that any mass storage in mobile devices can also be whitelisted.
3	Enable	Check this box to enable USB Whitelisting
4	Profile	Select the 'Extend Agent' profile. The agent profile contains the list of nodes for which the USB Whitelisting task is applicable
5	Type	In the 'Type' drop down, select the type of the USB device which has to match the criteria expression. The criteria expression refers to the text entered in the text box next to the 'Criteria' option
6	Criteria	Select the 'Criteria' option and enter the criteria expression and click 'ADD'

Agent Task Details

- To view the agent USB White Listing task details, click the 'Client Task Agent Details' tab

Agent Task Health

- To view the agent health details, click the 'Client Task Agent Health' tab

Custom Dynamic Link Library (DLL) Registration

In order to use a DLL, it has to be registered by having appropriate references entered in the Registry. It sometimes happens that a Registry reference gets corrupted and the functions of the DLL cannot be used anymore. The DLL has to be re-registered then.

SapphireIMS provides an interface to Register DLL's, Un Register them or Re Register them as the case may be.

- Click the 'Settings' tab, from 'IT Automation' section, click 'Client Task Agent'. Click 'ADD'

2	Task Type	In the 'Task Type' drop down, select Custom DLL Registration
3	Enable	Check this box to enable DLL registration in the registry
4	Profile	Select the 'Extend Agent' profile. The agent profile contains the list of nodes for which the DLL Registration task is applicable
5	Registration Option	Select the DLL Registration option
6	File Type	Select the 'File Type' option as 'Regular' or 'Zip'. If the file uploaded is a zip file, provide the 'Registration File' name of the DLL
7	File Name	Upload the DLL file or the zip file
8	Registration Architecture	Select the Registration Architecture as 32 bit or 64 bit machine
9	Download Bandwidth	Enter the download bandwidth for the DLL/zip files to download

Custom Managed Object Format (MOF) Registration

SapphireIMS allows you to register MOF files. MOF files need to be compiled into Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) registry since MOF files have a partner DLL file that stores data needed for retrieval in the MOF file.

- Click the 'Settings' tab, from 'IT Automation' section, click 'Client Task Agent'. Click 'ADD'

2	Task Type	In the 'Task Type' drop down, select Custom MOF Registration
3	Enable	Check this box to enable DLL registration in the registry
4	Profile	Select the 'Extend Agent' profile. The agent profile contains the list of nodes for which the MOF Registration task is applicable
5	Custom MOF File	Upload the MOF file to be registered and click 'Submit'

Note: You can view the status of the agent task in the 'Client Task Agent Details' tab and you can view the agent health details such as agent version, system status, version compliance, job submitted time etc. in 'Client Task Agent Health' tab
