• In the ‘Poller Category’ drop down, select ‘Application Services'

• In the ‘Poller Type’ drop down select 'MS ExchangeServer2007' , ‘MSExchangeServer2010’ or ‘MSExchangeServer2013’

 

Note: The prerequisites for monitoring MS Exchange Server 2007 or 2010 in SapphireIMS are

• In the SapphireIMS Server Microsoft Dot Net Framework Version >= 3.5 should be installed

• In the SapphireIMS Server PowerShell Version >= 2.0 should be installed

If these components are not installed on the SapphireIMS Server or the installed versions are mismatched then exchange 2007 and 2010 monitoring will not work. Both the components are shipped in the prerequisite folder in the SapphireIMS Installer Package.

Pre-requisites for Exchange Server 2013

 

1. Powershell must be installed in the SapphireIMS installed machine and the target exchange server must have version greater than or equal to 2.0.

 

2. In order to enable Powershell:

•  Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features On or Off.

• Enable Windows Powershell in the server manager console.

• Execute the following commands on both servers

 

3. To enable powershell remoting

• Enable-PSRemoting –Force   Note: Type Y or Yes in the  prompt

 

4.  To add trusted host lists

a.  In the target Exchange Server:

Set-Item wsman:\localhost\client\trustedhosts<SapphireIMS Server IPAddress/HostName>

Note: Type Y or Yes in the prompt

 

b. In SapphireIMS Server:

Set-Item wsman:\localhost\client\trustedhosts *

Note: Type Y or Yes in the prompt

 

5.  To set maximum number of remote concurrent powershells which can be opened

•  Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Shell\MaxShellsPerUser -value 25 -WarningActionSilentlyContinue

 

6.  To set idle disconnect time for powershell

• Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Shell\IdleTimeout -value 60000 -WarningActionSilentlyContinue

 

7.  Finally restart Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service

• Restart-Service WinRM

 

Execute the following commands using powershell:

1. At Sapphire server:

Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

 

2. At Sapphire server and target exchange machine:

Enable-PS-Remoting-Force

Set-Item wsman:\localhost\client\trustedhosts *

To restrict computers that can be connected, you can replace * with a comma separated list of IP addresses or computer names.

Restart-Service WinRM

 

Note: The same prerequisites are applicable for Exchange Server 2010 to monitor Mailbox statistics.

Prerequisite for Exchange Database UP/Down monitoring

 

Configuration of user account used for monitoring

 

Please use exchange management console, available in the target exchange server machine

1.       The user account (Eg: Administrator) should be a member of View-Only Organization Management group.

2.       Roles to be assigned to the group

•    Monitoring

•    Mailbox Search

 

For Exchange Server 2010 and 2013

 

• Open Exchange Mangement Console available in the Exchange Server machine.

• To add the user into View-Only Organization Management role group, execute the following cmdletAdd-RoleGroupMember "View-Only Organization Management" -Member <Username>

• To check whether the user is successfully added, execute the following cmdlet

 Get-RoleGroupMember "View-Only Organization Management" | where-object {$_.Name -eq<Username>}

• Once done, add roles to View-Only Organization Management group by using the following cmdlets

New-ManagementRoleAssignment -SecurityGroup "View-Only Organization Management" -Role "Monitoring"
New-ManagementRoleAssignment -SecurityGroup "View-Only Organization Management" -Role "Mailbox Search"
