Application Performance


 

Application performance enables you to select applications for monitoring. The following are the key applications that can be monitored  using SapphireIMS

 

Database Servers

Business Servers

   Web Servers

Virtual Machine Servers

   MySQL

MS Exchange Server, MS Exchange Server 2007, 2010 and 2013

    IIS

VMWare

   MSSQL

Note: Applications configured for monitoring on discovered nodes using 'Application Discovery Rules' are displayed as 'Host name_Application name', e.g. 'SIGIN_JBOSS Application Server'

 Application Monitor

 Resource Name

Provide the unique name through which the application monitor resource will be identified with.

 

    2

 Poller Category

Select the Poller Name. All application monitor resources will fall under one of the following categories

  •       Database Servers

  •       Virtual Machine Monitoring (VMWare , HyperV and XENServer virtual platforms supported)

  •       Application Services

  •       Web Servers/ Services

  •       Application Servers

 Poller Type

Displays the poller types for the selected ‘Poller Category’ . Some additional details will be required   depending on the poller type selected.

 Poll Interval (in  mins)

Specify the polling interval for the application to be monitored.

Poll status

By default the poll status would be ‘Enabled’. Only if it is set to 'Enabled’ the polling is performed.

Description

A brief description of  the resource that is added

 

     7

HostName

Enter the host name of the machine on which Microsoft Exchange Server is installed

UserName and password

Enter the administrator user name and password of the machine

Domain

Enter the domain name of the machine

WinRM Port

Http port for WinRM connectivity. Use 'winrm e winrm /config/listener' command to know the configured winrm port for the machine

Test

Before saving the resource perform a test by using this option.

If the ‘Test’ returns success then SapphireIMS would be able to collect the data successfully for the configured application.

If the ‘Test’ returns a failure, then the details provided are not correct and SapphireIMS will not be able to collect the data for the application to be monitored.

Notes:

The test is supported for only the ‘Database monitor’ in the current version of IMS

The 'Test' option is not available in MSP setup

Save/Update

Saves the application monitoring details. Once the details are saved, the polling for the resource is started.

Cancel

The application monitoring details are not saved. Polling will not be performed for the resource

Manage Discovered Applications

 

The applications are configured for monitoring by creating 'Application Discovery Rules' under Settings > Asset and Inventory Management > Application Discovery > Application Discovery Rules.

These applications are listed here. Here, you can also select installed applications for monitoring or create application monitors for the discovered nodes in the network.
