Topology

This is a graphical network view showing the nodes directly connected to the seed device IP and its neighbors. The seed device is added in ‘Topology Profiles and Wizard’ section.  The nodes directly connected to the seed IP should be compliant with any one of the discovery protocol for it and its neighbors to be detected in the topology view.

To view the network topology you need to configure the seed device in ‘Topology Profiles and Wizard’.

1. Click ‘Settings’ > ‘Asset and Inventory Management' section > click ‘Discovery Profiles and Wizard’.

2. Click ‘Topology Profiles and Wizard’ tab and click ‘Add’ to display the ‘Seed Info’ window. Refer to the section below.

3. Network Seed (Click here to read the details)

   This screen helps in adding a Seed IP address which will be the IP address of base device. The devices connected to it and its neighbors will be shown in the graphical Topology View.

    

   • Enter the IP address in ‘Seed Device IP’ text box and click ‘ADD'

   • Repeat the previous step to add as many IP addresses as required and click ‘Next’

    

   

    

4. Discovery Credentials (Click here to read the details)

   1. • In this screen select the ‘Credential Profiles’ which will be used for an authenticated discovery of the devices.

      • To create this credential profile click ‘Settings’ and from ‘Asset and Inventory Management'  section click ‘Profile Manager’.

      • SapphireIMS supports SNMP credential profile for topology view.

      • Click ‘Next’

       

      

       

    

5. Discovery Schedule (Click here to read the details)

   • This screen helps in scheduling the discovery for the added ‘Seed IP’

   • Select ‘Enable’ from the ‘Scheduler’ drop down list box. (Refer to the below mentioned screen)

   • ‘Schedule The Discovery’ section is used to set the date and time and frequency of the discovery

   • Hourly:

   • • Select this to schedule a discovery that repeats after every specified number of hours in ‘After Every’ drop down list box.

   • Daily:

   • Select this to schedule a discovery that repeats daily.

   • Specify the starting date and time in ‘Start Schedule From’ box.

   • Weekly:

   • • Select this to schedule a discovery that repeats on a weekly basis.

     • Specify the starting date and time in ‘Start Schedule From’ box and select the day of week you want to schedule the discovery on.

   • Monthly:

   • • Select this to schedule a discovery that repeats on a monthly basis.

     • Specify the starting date and time in ‘Start Schedule From’ box.

     • Choose the date and time the discovery will take place from ‘At’ and ‘On’ drop down respectively.

     • Select one or more months you want to schedule the discovery on.

   • Once:

   • • Select this to schedule a discovery once on the specified date and time.

     • Select the preference of the discovery from ‘Priority’ drop down list box.

    

1. To access topology view, click ‘Inventory’ and click ‘Topology Maps’

2. The image shown below is a graphical representation of the seed devices that were configured in the topology rule 'Topology-222'

• Right click the node to view end nodes/Inventory View/Performance View
